Lifting and Setup
- You should have at least two strong people available to unpack the kiln and lift the kiln sections.
- The typical weight of a Jupiter or Easy-Fire kiln section is up to 75 pounds.
- The heaviest standard Davinci section weighs about 150 pounds.
- Easy-Load Front-Loading kilns will require a forklift or at least a pallet jack. See this Pre-Order Checklist.
- eFL Series front-loading kilns require a lift-type pallet jack or a forklift. See installation videos. See Pre-Order Checklist.
- Setup is relatively easy but you should have some mechanical aptitude.
- See our installation videos.
Shipping Issues
- Someone must be present to receive the kiln.
- Truckers will only deliver Monday through Friday.
- If timing is an issue, please request the "Call Before" service and work out your schedule with the freight company.
- There is always the potential for shipping damage. See our Shipping Damage Policy and how to deal with this should it occur.
- If there is visible damage, call our office while the driver is present before signing the receipt.
Installation and Electrical Issues
- You must have a qualified electrician check out or install your power and electrical hook-up.
- It is important to be certain of your power (volts, phase, fuse size, and wire size) and to be sure you have enough amperage capacity to fire your kiln properly. You must know this before the kiln is ordered.
- Additional charges may be incurred (like having to change elements and rewire the control panel) if the wrong voltage is ordered. Click here for more information.
- If buying an Easy-Fire or School-Master kiln see this: Installation Instructions for Easy-Fire Kilns.
- For all other kilns see this: General Installation Instructions.

Service
- You should be willing to change elements yourself or have a service person. With L&L Kilns (which have hard ceramic element holders) this is a lot easier to do than in other kilns. You don’t need to worry about damaging the fragile firebrick. The element terminals are straightforward stainless steel studs that the element ends twist around. No special tools are required.
- All service of the control box in most of our kilns can be done easily.
Instructions and firing techniques
- You should be experienced in firing a kiln or have associates who can help you.
- Our kiln instructions are detailed and extensive and we offer many helpful tips.
- However, we can only offer limited help with regard to firing techniques.
Technical support
- Excellent technical support is available. We can usually help you with any control questions or troubleshooting questions.
- Because most kiln problems of a serious nature are in the control panel, our unique, easy-to-remove panel makes factory support possible in most cases.
- See this page for all the support options.
